1. DANCE

Dance the night away! It is unlikely that you will ever see these people again so get out there and set that dance floor on fire (not literally) If you are lucky enough to be on the Carnival Spirit that just the place to be for dancing as the famous Music Manila Band play live every night in Club Cool.

2. TRY NEW FOOD

Most cruise ships have a variety of restaurants or buffets to suit everyone’s taste, style and appetite. Try at least 1 dish you would never usually go for, you’ll be surprised at how many new flavors and tastes you will like. Try the range of specialty restaurants on most ships that offer exclusive different foods, usually these restaurants come at an extra cost.

3. TAKE PHOTOS

Regretfully I was guilty of this on the first cruise I went on, I didn’t take enough photos, now I don’t have any at all. You need to keep the memories of the people you met and the sights you had seen. I find the photographers onboard are quite professional but can be a bit pricy sometimes, although depending on what ship/cruise line company you are on they usually have photographers at every port so you can purchase a photo of your port memories.

4. TREAT YOURSELF

A cruise is a holiday, on a holiday you need to take the time out to relax, reflect and evaluate your life. Most cruise ships have a Spa where you can pay for a service such as a massage or facial. Some ships have adult 18+ retreats where you can just chill out next to the pool and soak in some sunshine, adult only retreats give you another reason to drop the kids off at the kids club ;). Buy yourself a little gift or buy a treatment at the spa, check out what your ship has to offer retail wise, most ships have up market brands that usually sell at a discounted price, treat yourself it is a holiday right?

5. MINGLE

Grab a cocktail, sit down, relax and have a chat! Everyone is on the ship to have a great time; most people will spread the same positive holiday vibes. During my cruises I’ve met many people who I am a still friends with to this day. Not only fellow passengers but have a chat to your room steward or waiter/waitress (if they’re not too busy of course) you’ll find that they all have something interesting to say about themselves. Majority of the staff are from overseas so it’s really interesting to hear what it’s like working on cruise ships and about their life back at home.
